Averaged over the year that is equivalent to 14m 12s per month, or 2h 50m 24.5s for the full year of potential downtime.
Without context, it is difficult for most to judge whether this is a good number or a bad number. Empirically, I think that not being able to login for 14 minutes at some point within a month -- keeping in mind that this might be our 3AM system restart -- is a very good number. However, here are some measured uptimes from other large service hosts for comparison:
Ning 99.95% uptime, 21m 54.9s downtime average per month
- Ning is our former host of social.MRSware.com, now moved to our regular website
- Godaddy is a popular website and email host. In the review I referenced this information from, Godaddy had the highest uptimes of the listed hosting sites.
Microsoft Office365 99.984% (not including maintenance times)
Mandrill SMTP 99.96%
- Mandrill is the mail delivery service that is MailChimp.
- Slack is a popular chat application for businesses.
status.MRSware.net is our live service status page, updated every 1 minute with availability of the various MRSware services. This page is monitoring our services from outside our own network, and therefor should be a very accurate representation of what our MRSware Users are seeing at any given time.
We do additional and extensive monitoring of our services and infrastructure to minimize response time and maximize service availability. Here's looking forward to a great 2017.
