1: What is an Application Service Provider?  Software As A Service?  Cloud Computing?

A: The great thing about the computer industry is that there is never a shortage of new technical jargon -- sometimes confusing, sometimes overlapping, and always plentiful.  An Application Service Provider is a company that provides software via the Internet for a monthly fee.  These services usually include software updates, maintenance, and support.  Software As A Service is a method of providing application services without the typical upfront charges for software licenses or hardware & networking infrastructure to run it on.  Cloud Computing is any type of application provided to the user where the user does not know/care what infrastructure is being run behind the scenes to provide those services.

So which one of these does MRSware fit into?  Well, pretty much all of them, as MRSware does not require the user to purchase anything up-front, is maintained and updated by us without the user needing to do anything, and includes all training and support.  The MRSware architecture as you see it now, started in 2003; before any of these 3 terms existed.  When we initially approached the market we had a two-fold job -- educate people on what our service model meant, and then sell the service itself.  It isn't easy being on the leading edge of an emerging trend...  Luckily enough our delivery model has seen a lot of publicity since then and is a very excepted and growing way to delivery and purchase software services.

2: What is a Smart Client Application?

A: Smart Client is a type of application (as compared to web clients and desktop clients) where communications and functionality is similar to a traditional desktop client but has several benefits added through similar capabilities to those of web client applications.  To read more about Smart Clients, see the Microsoft article on the subject at http://msdn.microsoft.com/smartclient/understanding/definition/.

Technical á

1: How often is my data backed-up?

A: Data (contacts, appointments, e-mail, invoices, files, etc.) are backed-up on a continual basis throughout the day between servers in EYOND's network.  Additionally, full backup copies of every database are made on a nightly basis.  These full backups are housed in a fireproof safe in an off-site (not with the servers) location.  Customers may request a backup copy of their data at any time.

2: How secure is MRSware?

A: All communications between the MRSware client and server are encrypted for security and compressed for performance.  MRSware uses state of the art encryption technology to make sure all communications are secure.  What this means is that all transmissions of data between client and server are private and cannot be intercepted or decoded by anyone else.  Additionally, all internal e-mail (and e-mail to other MRSware users) is completely secure from the outside.

3: How do I get technical support?

A: Technical support for MRSware is included with your service subscription.  The primary channel for support is through e-mail to our support@EYOND.net address.  As is appropriate to the support situation, an EYOND support staffer will respond within an hour via e-mail or phone.  Time to resolution will vary by issue, however, EYOND is dedicated to making your experience with MRSware as productive as possible and will make every effort to resolve issues, implement enhancement requests, and generally respond to requests in a timely manner.

4: Are there any training options available?

A:  EYOND runs regular monthly online training sessions.  These training sessions are open to all users from all companies and are hosted using our Internet web conferencing tool and phone conferencing system.  Invitations are sent to all users via e-mail and upcoming training sessions are listed on the main MRSware.com web page.  Any user may request a particular training session topic by sending it to support@EYOND.net.

5: Can I synchronize my MRSware data with my PDA?

A:  Information contained in MRSware can be imported into many different types of devices.  Instead of writing a specific synchronization utility for each type of device available in the market (which could be in the hundreds), EYOND provides import and export capabilities to one of the most commonly used formats, comma separated values (CSV).  This format is very common and is found in programs such as: Outlook, Outlook Express, ACT, Maximizer, RPMS, Palm, PocketPC, Blackberry, Lotus Notes, Excel, and many other programs.  For instructions on importing to your specific device go to your device manufacturer's web site and search for the keyword CSV (or comma separated) in their support section.  Additionally, EYOND has created a document detailing the process for several common devices, which can be found here: Export MRSware Contacts (Blackberry & Palm).pdf.
