Examples
A new Customer is created in MRSware -> automatically create that Customer entry in Magento. When the customer places an Order in Magento -> copy that Order into MRSware, perhaps assigning the correct Sales Rep and Commissions based on the Commission Rules in the MRSware system. Later, when that customer is updated in MRSware -> update the corresponding Customer entry in Magento as well, to keep both systems in-sync.
