Streamline Your Workspace: Why (and How) to Customize Your MRSware Interface

By EYOND / MRSware Team • Published: October 16, 2026 • Productivity & UI

Over the past several releases, MRSware has expanded significantly. From automated appointment mileage tracking with Mapbox failover routing to one-click speech-to-text voice dictation, active stopwatch lead timers, quick timer logs, self-learning invoice line item parsers, and multi-tier commission reconciliation rules, our desktop power client has grown into one of the most comprehensive platforms ever engineered for manufacturers' representative agencies.

Yet, with all this capability comes an unavoidable reality: no single person in your agency uses every single screen every day.

The Cognitive Cost of Screen Clutter

If your daily routine revolves around servicing existing accounts, following up on customer inquiries, and logging call recaps, you probably spend 80% of your day in Companies, Contacts, and Journals. Having your sidebar and toolbars packed with buttons for Commission Rule Reconciliations, Sub-Rep Payout Splits, Product Catalogs, or Database Diagnostic Testers doesn't just waste screen pixels—it slows you down. Every extraneous icon adds visual noise and forces you to hunt for the three or four tools you actually need.

Conversely, if you're the agency's commission administrator or accounting manager, your world centers on Invoices, Orders, Commission Payments, and Data Analysis cubes. You want those tools anchored right under your fingertips, with full-width tabular grids and zero-latency access, while CRM marketing campaign builders and field rep mileage settings stay out of your way.

"Software should mold itself around your daily workflow—not the other way around. Customizing your MRSware desktop turns a sprawling 20-module power suite into a razor-sharp command center tailored specifically to your job."

Tailoring MRSware to Your Exact Role

Because MRSware Desktop was designed from day one as a true native Windows client, it doesn't force you into a one-size-fits-all web layout. Every user profile stores its own independent, persistent preferences file (located safely on your PC at %APPDATA%\MRSware\<username>\Preferences\). This means you can freely customize your personal layout on your work computer without altering anyone else's screen in your firm:

1. Strip Away Unused Icons in Preferences

Through Tools → Preferences → (General) → Shortcuts, you have access to a clean hierarchical tree of every single entity, module, and search form in the system. With a few clicks, you can uncheck screens you don't use on a regular basis. Keep only your vital 5–6 actions pinned to your Shortcuts Panel and New Toolbar. The difference in visual clarity is instantaneous.

2. Move and Dock Toolbars Where You Want Them

Did you know your MRSware toolbars aren't fixed? Using the stippled gripper handle on the left edge of any toolbar, you can drag and dock toolbars along the Top, Bottom, Left, or Right edge of the window. You can stack them side-by-side on a single row to save vertical space, or drag a toolbar directly into the workspace to let it float as an independent movable palette—perfect for dual-monitor setups!

3. Reclaim Your Screen Real Estate

Need to review a 30-column invoice import or an executive OLAP sales cube? Toggle off the left sidebar entirely by heading to View → Side Bar → Show Side Bar. Or turn off individual sub-panels (like the Search or New panels) under the View menu so only your custom Shortcuts remain visible.

4. Eliminate "Squished" Panels on Laptops & External Displays

If you travel with a laptop and frequently connect or disconnect an external office monitor, you may have encountered sidebar panels that look squished or extend past the bottom of the screen after a resolution change. MRSware includes two instant one-click reset tools under View → Side Bar:

  • Resize Panels: Automatically redistributes all open sidebar panels into uniform, equal heights within the visible screen area.
  • Collapse Panels: Minimizes all sidebar panels down to their header bars in a single stroke, letting you open only what you need.

5. Custom Tab Stops for High-Volume Data Entry

For inside staff processing high-throughput wholesale orders and invoices, pressing Tab through dozens of optional or calculated fields wastes hours each month. By selecting Options → Customize Tab Stops directly within the Order or Invoice form, you can configure the exact keyboard navigation path across form fields, skipping right over secondary boxes and letting staff enter complete line items at lightning speed without ever reaching for the mouse.

📖 Step-by-Step Technical Guide Available in the Desktop Guide

We've published a comprehensive, step-by-step technical walkthrough in Part 1 of the official MRSware Desktop User Guide.
