We recorded 99.9676% uptime for the year of 2016. This number includes all reboots on the weekends and late evenings for regularly scheduled maintenance, operating system updates, software update, etc. This is the actual amount of time our services were available, including all maintenance and management time, 24/7 for all 366 days.
Averaged over the year that is equivalent to 14m 12s per month, or 2h 50m 24.5s for the full year of potential downtime.
Without context, it is difficult for most to judge whether this is a good number or a bad number. Empirically, I think that not being able to login for 14 minutes at some point within a month -- keeping in mind that this might be our 3AM system restart -- is a very good number. However, here are some measured uptimes from other large service hosts for comparison:

A lot of the numbers above were referenced directly from the provider's status page. The Ning uptime was measured directly by us as part of our monitoring for social.MRSware.com, but does not reflect all of the time where they just showed a "System Under Maintenance" message instead of access to the site content. Our www.MRSware.com site has been running at a steady 100% availability, so seemed like an excellent place to move our social content.
