There are a few apps for each device that will take pictures of business cards and then convert those images into text, entering the text in the appropriate fields on a contact entry on the device. With MRSware integrations with popular services, such as Google Contacts for example, there are no additional steps necessary after scanning the card to get it into MRSware (since it will pick up the newly entered or updated contact directly from the contacts list. There are also some apps that MRSware can integrate with directly, such as FullContact, which allow for picking up the contact as soon as it is scanned from a card and adding it to MRSware (without using another integration like Google Contacts).
Google Goggles This app by Google is available for Android devices on the Play store. Among its other picture and QR code scanning abilities, it can scan business cards and insert them into the contact list. There is no limit on the number of cards that can be scanned, and the app is free, so it makes a great addition to the sales rep's workflow. |
Though not as new or fun as the latest trending mobile app, desktop business scanners have been around for quite some to time and can typically do bulk scanning (lots all at once) of business cards. One of the output options of these scanners is the standard CSV (comma separate values) file or other spreadsheet format. Lists of contacts can be imported from spreadsheets, updating or adding new contacts and their companies in MRSware in bulk. Users can even apply Categories and System Types to the imported contacts all at once after import, a sometimes simpler process than using the app on a phone to scan one-at-a-time.
FullContact This app is a contact management app that synchronizes with existing service accounts, including Google Contacts, to allow users to manage their contact lists outside of the device applications, de-duplicate contacts, and scan business cards. Use the FullContact app to scan a business card, and upon completion of converting the picture to text fields in a contact entry, those contact details are sent to MRSware to update the existing contact or create a new one if he/she does not exist. The FullContact app is free for managing contacts and includes 10 business card scans. The for-pay version allows for more card scans among some other features. |
