Add a LinkedIn Badge to your Emails (and Website)

Here is the page on LinkedIn that gives you the image options and correct link to use for LinkedIn profile links on your website, in your emails, etc.:

What they provide is a selection of images and the html code next to it to create the link you want. It is pretty simple to insert this kind of HTML code into a MRSware email by first copying the text next to the one you want, then right-clicking in your email where you want it and selecting "Insert" -> "HTML", and inserting the copied text, as such:

The code provided by LinkedIn does the image, link, and alternate text for you. You can also do this same step as a Signature in your MRSware Preferences, and on your website as well.

Social Media Marketing for Reps

During the MRA Seminar, there was some discussion about whether social media was an effective marketing avenue for manufacturers' reps. I recently came across a video from Tom Griffin, CPMR, who is the Managing Director Catalyst Sales, Inc. Catalyst Sales is a manufacturers' rep agency selling in the electronic components industry.

The Power of the "R" in CRM

By now you're all familiar with the term CRM - Contact Relationship Management. But are you really maximizing your CRM application? Most companies using CRM have created a master list (database) of companies and contacts. This master list is often used as a computer version of the old paper Rolodex - a place to look up addresses, phone and fax numbers, e-mail addresses, etc. Keeping the master list information up-to-date is much easier today with CRM applications than it was with the Rolodex.

While this database is a great first step in setting up your CRM system, the real power of your CRM is the "R" - Relationship - and in establishing a solid Relationship Database (RD).

A Relationship Database includes all pertinent information, built over time, contributed to by everyone in the company, about your customer and how best to do business with them. Simple, isn't it?

For instance:

"Relationships" is a great location to list the manufacturers from whom your customer is buying. You should list both your Principals and your competitors.
